What we choose to wear on our feet has a huge role to play in the way our feet and bodies function. There is so much variation in the types of shoes we are presented with and it's hard to know what to buy given all the marketing put forward by the different shoe brands.

As Podiatrists we are here to pull apart the mountains of information and present you with the best options available to you and your biomechanics. Both our Geelong Podiatry Team and Torquay Podiatry Team are skilled at assessing how your shoes function, the wear patterns and then recommending shoes based on your foot function and injury.
We complete these assessments at our Geelong Podiatry clinic and Torquay Podiatry clinic and they involve the following: Walking and running assessment in your shoes and barefoot, functional assessment involving a few different exercises, specific foot assessment, analysis of wear patterns, midsole compression and shoe upper wearing. Following these assessment (as part of your management) we will refer your to a specialised shoe store with a prescription to purchase the best shoe for you and to your liking. We stay well connected with many of the running and casual shoe stores in the Torquay and Geelong area to ensure you have plenty of options available to you.

If you have any questions regarding footwear assessments / footwear recommendations and their involvement in injury management then please do not hesitate to reach out to our Geelong or Torquay Podiatry Teams
